Nepeta cataria Information
Description: Catnip is a type of mint often dried and given to cats which excites them and makes them playful. Often called a kitty weed, this name is quite misleading as the cats simply smell it and become excited. Ingestion is not needed and it seems quite safe. Catnip is also used by people in herbal teas for a much more subtle effect. The herb does not affect people in the same way as cats.
