Description: This species is being used a lot in Japan and especially Taiwan. The local aboriginals will use the seeds/fruits, leaves and roots for various cooking preparations while the people of Chinese descent in Taiwan use the leaves for the famous "Zhongzhi" (Rice Dumpling) during dragon boat festival. New studies are learning a lot about the health benefits of this somewhat under utilized ginger relative.
